Dr Ankit Mishra is an Assistant Professor of Psychology at the Thapar School of Liberal Arts and Sciences. He received his PhD from the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. A cognitive psychologist specialising in mathematical cognition, his doctoral research focused on the neurocognitive underpinnings of the Approximate Number System. Broader research interests include mathematical ability, mathematical anxiety, reading proficiency, learning disabilities, and executive functions, with the aim of understanding both typical and atypical cognitive development. He adopts rigorous experimental methods in his research. In addition to his research pursuits, Dr. Mishra is committed to teaching and curriculum development, particularly in cognitive psychology. His teaching philosophy is centred around promoting critical thinking and a scientific research orientation among students.
