Vaibhav Sakshi is an Assistant Professor at the Thapar School of Liberal Arts and Sciences (TSLAS), specializing in Hindustani classical music. She brings a wealth of academic and performance experience, grounded in over a decade of rigorous training and excellence in Indian classical vocal music. Trained in the Guru-Shishya Parampara under renowned Gwalior Gharana vocalist Dr. Soma Singh (an “A” grade artist of All India Radio), she has developed a deep foundation in traditional music while also engaging actively in academic research and pedagogy.
Her areas of expertise include Hindustani vocal techniques, raga improvisation, music theory, vocal health, and performance artistry. Vaibhav has performed at prestigious platforms such as the IIC Winter Festival, Taj Mahotsava, WOFA–ICAI, and JNU Convocation, and has served as a judge at major cultural events including those at IIT Delhi, Miranda House, Food Corporation of India, etc.
She is a UGC-NET qualified scholar and a university Gold medalist, currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Music from the University of Delhi. Her academic achievements include the Jaya Appasamy Scholarship, CCRT Scholarship by the Ministry of Education, Tushar Pandit Memorial Gold Medal, and multiple awards for securing top ranks at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
In addition to her teaching and performance career, she is actively involved in mentoring students, contributing to university cultural life, and furthering research in music education and voice training. Her commitment to both artistic excellence and student development makes her a valued member of the TSLAS faculty.
