Dr. Amit Prakash Jha earned his PhD from IIM Lucknow in the Business Environment–Economics domain and served as an Assistant Professor in the Economics & Public Policy area at the Indian Institute of Management Shillong until early 2025. With a background that includes a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and seven years as an Assistant Engineer at a state-owned power company, Dr. Jha later transitioned into academia, teaching at the LM Thapar School of Management, Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology. At IIM Shillong, he taught core courses in microeconomics, macroeconomics, econometrics, and game theory, while at LMTSM he also taught data analytics and optimization. His research has focused primarily on energy economics, cross-border electricity trade, and the moral foundations of economic beliefs, with publications in journals such as Renewable Energy, Applied Economics, and Economic Analysis and Policy. He has also served in institutional roles such as coordinator for AACSB accreditation and has undertaken sponsored projects for IRADe (SARI/EI) and the 16th Finance Commission of India.
