TSLAS Arranges an Interactive Workshop on Wage Inequality and Fair Pay

Thapar School of Liberal Arts and Sciences (TSLAS) organised an interactive workshop titled "Are People Paid What They Deserve?" to encourage participants to examine the principles underlying wage differences and perceptions of fairness in the workplace. Held at the TSLAS Seminar Room, the session brought together students and faculty for an engaging discussion on economics and political theory.

 

The workshop explored why different professions receive different levels of compensation and whether such disparities can be justified. Through live exercises and interactive activities, participants reflected on the economic, social, and ethical factors that shape wages and remuneration across occupations.

 

The session was facilitated by Jitendra Singh, an economist, and Sanat Sogani, a political theorist at TSLAS. Combining perspectives from their respective disciplines, the facilitators encouraged participants to critically evaluate the relationship between work, value, and compensation.

 

The workshop formed part of TSLAS' efforts to promote interdisciplinary learning by engaging students in discussions on contemporary economic and social issues. Participants actively contributed to the conversations, gaining insights into how questions of fairness, merit, and public policy influence debates surrounding wages and labour markets.
