TSLAS Marks the Dawn of the Ethnography and Migration Research Lab

The Ethnography and Migration Research Lab's inaugural session was held at TSLAS, signifying the beginning of a brand-new academic setting devoted to ethnographic techniques and cultural research. The goal and scope of the Lab were presented to the staff and students throughout the session.

 

The inaugural session was held on Monday, 2nd February 2026. The Lab was conceived as a shared academic space for sustained engagement with ethnographic methods, cultural inquiry, and qualitative research across disciplines, with the aim of fostering conversations around everyday social worlds, lived experience, and critical approaches to understanding culture.

 

Structurally, the inaugural session introduced attendees to the Lab's aims and areas of focus, laying the groundwork for future discussions, workshops, and research activities centred on ethnography and culture.

 

Its establishment was driven by the need for a dedicated platform where such conversations could be pursued in depth, moving beyond isolated coursework towards sustained, cross-disciplinary engagement with ethnographic and qualitative research methods.
